What can NAP help with?
NAP can primarily help projects through advice and support. This may be as
simple as helping to find other appropriate agencies which may be able to
help with project development or it may include help with securing funding
or enabling contact with other successful community enterprises which may be
able to offer inspiration and support.
The Partnership has no money of its own, but projects with appropriate business plans can be included within scheme bids put forward by the Partnership and in some cases, funding from government agencies may only be available if applied for through the Partnership. By bringing local projects together under the MTI it is hoped that they will work strategically in order to achieve the best possible outcomes and value for their target communities.

There are five towns in Allerdale involved in the Market Towns Initiative:
Aspatria, Cockermouth, Keswick, Silloth and Wigton. Cockermouth and Keswick
Partnerships are working independently on their own individual Initiatives,
whereas Aspatria, Silloth, Wigton and their hinterlands have joined forces
to form a co-ordinated three-town Initiative under the umbrella of the North
Allerdale Partnership (NAP).
Why has the Partnership been established?
The three market towns have a long established history and identity. In
recent years, all three have suffered a decline in their services and
facilities, which has contributed to a downward trend in their general
prosperity.
Through these and other pressures the
character, identity and sense of purpose of these historic market towns has
been under-threat. The North Allerdale Partnership came together to address
these issues collectively across the whole area, whilst individual town
partnerships worked on Action Plans that could identify local issues and
projects focused mainly on the town centres.
